People are wary of online platforms today, and rightly so. Where does my data go? Who is hiding behind a nickname? Will I have to pay one day? I prefer to answer in advance. CommuniFilms is an ethical social platform, and these questions have a clear answer here: real identity, protected data, free access. Here are our commitments.
Real identity rather than anonymity
On CommuniFilms, no one is anonymous. Everyone signs up under their real first and last name, never behind a nickname. This choice makes each member accountable, and it keeps exchanges more respectful. You review a work, you rate it, you debate it — but openly, and with respect for people. So hateful, defamatory or misleading remarks have no place here. And when someone reports clearly illegal content to me, I remove it. Identity theft, for its part, has no place here at all.
Your data stays yours
Your personal data belongs to you, and it stays that way. I do not sell it, neither to advertisers nor to anyone else. It is hosted in the European Union, at OVH, and processed under the GDPR. You stay in control: from your space, you can view, edit or delete your information at any time. Moreover, I collect only what is needed — your profile, your posts, and a little technical data for security. Finally, a video embedded from YouTube or Vimeo may appear on a page. That third-party service can then track you, and I say so plainly rather than hide it.
Free access, transparent funding
CommuniFilms is self-funded, with my own money, and with no profit motive. There are no investors, no shareholders to pay. Viewing the site and showcasing films will therefore remain free. If, one day, the platform generates revenue, I will say so openly. And I will never charge creators for the simple fact of being seen. This is a principle, not a vague promise.
An ethical social platform, beyond the DSA
These commitments do not come out of nowhere. The European regulation on digital services — the DSA (Digital Services Act) — already sets obligations for platforms: moderation, transparency, reporting. CommuniFilms meets them. But I do not want to stop at compliance. An ethical social platform does not tick boxes: it makes these principles its very fabric. Real identity, data protection and free access are design choices, not constraints endured. So, if these commitments matter to you too, you are at home here.
